We're Hiring a Couples Therapist
The couples who come to us are doing some of the hardest relational work there is. They deserve a therapist who can hold that space with skill and heart.
Addy Psychotherapy is a specialized private practice in Etobicoke, focused on men's mental health, couples therapy, betrayal trauma recovery, sex addiction, and teen therapy. Our couples work is growing, and we need a therapist who can meet that demand with real clinical depth.
The role
We're hiring a couples therapist to join our clinical team. You'll work with couples navigating communication breakdown, trust repair, disconnection, betrayal recovery, and the fallout of addiction on relationships. Some of these couples are in crisis. Others are trying to prevent one. Both need someone who can bring structure, warmth, and real skill to the room.
The position starts part time and grows to full time as your caseload builds. You'll see couples in person at our Etobicoke office and virtually across Ontario. We use Jane App for scheduling and documentation, and we'll support you through onboarding.
What you'll do
- Carry a caseload of couples clients, with some individual clients as needed
- Provide structured, evidence-based couples therapy grounded in your clinical training
- Conduct individual readiness assessments before beginning couples work when clinically appropriate
- Maintain thorough clinical documentation through Jane App
- Participate in regular clinical consultation and peer support with the team
- Collaborate on cases involving betrayal trauma, addiction recovery, and complex relational dynamics
Who we're looking for
Someone who understands that couples work is its own discipline. Not just individual therapy with two people in the room. You're comfortable navigating high emotion, managing conflict in session, and helping partners hear each other when they've stopped being able to. You bring both structure and flexibility, knowing when to follow the model and when to follow the couple.
Requirements
- Registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as an RP or RP (Qualifying)
- Master’s degree in counselling, psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy, or a related field
- Training or demonstrated experience in at least one couples modality (e.g. EFT, Gottman Method, PACT, relational life therapy, or similar)
- Comfort working with high-conflict couples, betrayal, and emotional intensity
- Professional liability insurance
- Reliable internet connection for virtual sessions
Nice to have (not required)
- EFT certification or advanced training (Sue Johnson model)
- Experience working with couples affected by sex addiction or compulsive sexual behaviour
- Experience with therapeutic disclosure processes
- Familiarity with attachment-based or trauma-informed relational frameworks
